Hard to believe, but we’re just 6 months away from this year’s BEAT Festival!
SO MUCH going on here, with a lot of the festival snapping into focus as we speak. For now, I wanted to share just a few of these awesome details with you here on the blog:
This year’s festival dates are Thurs, Sept 11th – Sat, Sept 20th. We will be having our usual array of free events, plus there will be some very special late-night performances too. Can’t whisper another word about that though…
Once again, we will be hosting a massive, wild MashUp of all this year’s performers in the Brooklyn Museum the night of Thurs, Sept 11th. Like last year, we will scatter the artists throughout the building leaving it up to you to find them. It’s choose your own adventure, with performance.
We’re delighted and deeply honored to be working with WNYC this year as the official BEAT Festival media sponsor! And finally…
Improv Everywhere will be staging a large participatory performance in Brooklyn during this year’s BEAT Festival! It might involve YOU (+ many, many others). So, stay tuned for more details on that coming in the summer. Be sure to check out this awesome and hilarious TED Talk by IE’s founder Charlie Todd entitled “The Shared Experience of Absurdity” to learn more (view time – 12:04).
That’s it for now. The next big announcement from us will come later this spring, as we announce some special happenings over the summer including the date of our ticketing launch. But, needless to say, we are rolling here and this year is going to be so much fun!
So, please stay tuned and thanks a ton for your interest in BEAT.
