BEAT = Brooklyn Emerging Artists in Theater
Our mission is to create a platform for breakthrough contemporary performance art generating from the diverse and thriving borough of Brooklyn. We seek to discover and spotlight modern performing artists living and working across the borough to present and evolve the mediums of theater, dance and voice. Building community is a critical part of our aim, as we unite dynamic talent from across Brooklyn, foster neighborhood and borough-wide partnerships, invest in positive youth and community development and cultivate a flourishing community among emerging performing artists.
This mission culminates each year with the annual BEAT Festival in the fall (inaugural season dates: September 12-23, 2012). The BEAT Festival features Brooklyn’s finest emerging artists organized into a 12-day festival. We will present artists/groups who will tour through the borough to venues within differing neighborhoods. The artists will be chosen by BEAT and there is no application process.
