For One Night Only: The Brooklyn Museum Of The Performing Arts
Brooklyn-Based Theater, Dance & Voice Artists Take Over The Borough’s Largest Cultural Institution
BEAT Opening Night
Thur Sept 11, 7pm | Brooklyn Museum | FREE*
For our third festival’s opening night, we return to the Brooklyn Museum. Sample the BEAT in Brooklyn’s largest cultural institution as all of this year’s artists will perform throughout. If you came last year, you know how much fun this event is. Visitors will receive a map with the locations of each act marked. From there, it’s up to you – choose your own adventure!
Be a part of creating dance! This year’s opening night event features the interactive dance creation project #TweetDance (presented by UnderOneDances) where professional dancers of all styles turn tweets and short prompts from audience members near and far into minute-long improvised dance performances on the spot.
The BEAT Opening Night roster includes:
- Elisabet Torras Aguilera
- Aja Monet
- Bed-Stuy Veterans
- Chanel Kennebrew
- Fixed Agency
- Mashuq Deen
- Shirel Jones
- Sophia Schrank
- Two Sides Sounding
Come one, come all! This is a FREE event, a true celebration of Brooklyn performing arts.
*NOTE: The museum’s standard suggested donation entrance policy still applies.
