Want To Be Part Of BEAT 2012?
We are thrilled to learn of artists or groups that are interested in being presented at BEAT 2012. Here are some guidelines before filling in the form at the bottom of the page:
1) You Must Either Live And/Or Work In Brooklyn
This is a Brooklyn performing arts festival. It is funded by Brooklyn businesses, individuals and foundations. If you live in Brooklyn and/or work in Brooklyn, you are able to be considered.
A little word about what we mean by “work”. You must have a business address or studio that you consistently use in Brooklyn. If you are a choreographer who lives in Manhattan, but has a dance studio in Bushwick, you are eligible. If you are a theater director who lives in Brooklyn Heights, but sometimes does shows in Manhattan, you too are eligible. If you are a singer who lives in Manhattan, who has performed a few times in Park Slope and Clinton Hill, but largely rehearses in the west village, you are not eligible.
In other words, if you have an ongoing, legitimate (financially binding) relationship with Brooklyn you are likely eligible. If you have any questions, we’re happy to answer them. Just fill in the form at the bottom of the page and let us know what’s on your mind.
2) You Must Be A Theater, Dance And/Or Vocal Artist
We LOVE music and musicians, but…we’re not presenting them as part of BEAT. Music gets a lot of play in the summer Brooklyn festival circuit (Celebrate Brooklyn, Northside etc.), and we want to focus instead on the theater arts. We do not exclude vocalists however. If you are a contemporary vocalist, seeking to stretch the boundary of musicality or opera (for example), we want to meet you.
Otherwise, all theater artists (playwrights, theater groups, directors, actors, choreographers, dancers & vocalists) are welcome to send us a note (following the instructions below) and let us know all about you.
Instructions For Contacting Us
Some things to include in your note to us would be:
1) Your name & email
2) The name of your group
3) The discipline (theater, dance, voice)
4) Your relationship to Brooklyn
5) Your next NY area performance (if none, don’t sweat it, just let us know your rehearsal schedule and if we could attend one)
6) Contact person with tel #/email address
7) Website and other supporting online media URLs
That’s it. Fill in the form below and send us a note with this information. We’ll get back to you asap.
It’s never too early to let us know about you. We have a lot of ideas for making BEAT 2012 unforgettable, but it really starts with the artists. We definitely can’t do it without you.
