New York City’s current Youth Poet Laureate, 19-year old Ishmael “Ish” Islam, curates an entire evening of spoken word and hip hop theater in this one-night event at The Irondale Center on September 17th. Listen in as the borough’s most talented poets pulse with the words, ideas and rhythms that make Brooklyn what it is.

About Ishmael “Ish” Islam
Ish, a 19-year-old student at Kingsborough Community College, is a poet, MC, filmmaker, and graphic artist. He was one of the 2010 Brave New Voices Slam champions and placed third in the 2011 Knicks Poetry Slam.
