- Write a tweet on the theme From Where I Stand…
- Include #TweetDance
- Watch as dancers turn your 140 characters into minute-long improvised dance performances!
- Take pictures and video while your tweet or prompt is being performed and share on Instagram, Twitter, Vine, Facebook, or Tumblr – just make sure to tag us @UnderOneDances and add the hashtag #TweetDance
#TweetDance is an UnderOneDances project created by Kyla Ernst-Alper and Maxx Passion, who will be joined by dancers Aidan Feldman, Amanda MacLeod, and Ben Weston! You can learn more about the dancers and see videos of them at www.underonedances.com
Throughout this year’s BEAT Festival, Kyla and Maxx will be profiling many of this year’s dance artists through the ongoing “UnderOneDances” media project. Stay tuned to our social media to view these as they are released.
Who Are Kyla Ernst-Alper and Maxx Passion?
Kyla Ernst-Alper (#TweetDance co-founder, UnderOneDances founder, producer/performer) is a dancer, aerialist, and cross-platform producer and director. Kyla’s professional dance career began at the age of 16 with Eliot Feld’s Ballet Tech, and she has since performed with a wide variety of companies and choreographers including Elisa Monte, Battery Dance Company, and Dzul Dance. While still dancing, Kyla began a parallel career as a television and video producer and editor, working on shows for Animal Planet, The Travel Channel, CBS, and Discovery, among many others. Taking her extensive digital experience back to the dance world, Kyla founded UnderOneDances to build a broader community around dance & dancers through short videos, engaging content, and interactive performance experiences. Kyla’s choreography has appeared on numerous stages and in videos, and she has traveled the world performing on the ground and in the air.
Originally from Brattleboro, VT, Maxx Passion (#TweetDance co-founder, UnderOneDances collaborator, performer) has danced with Edisa Weeks/DELIRIOUS Dances, Artichoke Dance Company, and the Treehouse Shakers in NYC. She was an artist in residence at OMI Dance International in Omi, NY and CAMAC Center D’Art in Marnay-sur-Seine, France. Maxx has performed and co-produced dance work with UnderOneDances and together they explore ways to interact with the audience before, during, and after the performance; she presented a paper on this topic at the Society of Dance History Scholars’ conference in 2013. Maxx is an MFA candidate at the University of Michigan where she is also the recipient of the Rackham Merit Fellowship.
